Note on the cover-up: The songs in this section focus on the music itself, not the video. Images or videos can influence how we hear a song, and we might miss its inherent beauty. This is why I have covered the visuals — I'd like to encourage you to take in the music alone. Close your eyes and listen ツ
When I discovered Loreena McKennitt’s music when the album ‘book of secrets’ was released in 1997 – I was blown away and went to discover all her other music too. Her unique compositions combining Celtic and Middle Eastern influences into what most would call ‘world music’ is simply beautiful. Her voice expresses her delicate melodies wonderfully. I would describe her songs as calming, soothing, whimsical and inspiring.
My own music preference is usually rock ~ from grunge to heavy rock and so discovering Loreena McKennitt’s music and taking to it as much as I did came as quite a surprise to me. This is why I would encourage you to listen to this song. Whether you usually like folk-influenced music or not, this song might just be something quite unexpected to take you into a different world.
As this site section’s purpose is to inspire, I include this song here to introduce her to you if you have not heard her music already. I would recommend that you close your eyes, put on your headphones and let yourself immerse into this beautiful song. Let your mind wonder.
